Daily Painting 1424 Sabal Palm and Two Live Oaks minature oil painting plein air

I did this from life awhile ago, didn't like it so I got it back out and scraped off the offending parts and re-painted a bit.  There was this building in the background with two windows, it kind of looked like eyes looming out of the painting at you. I like it so much better without the house. Its from the Old Fort Park site.   Its 4 x 6 inches, oil on masonite,

Daily Painting 1422 Morning Mists Australian Pines

I had fun with this one, its a fantasy painting, painted out of my head.  I think the Australian pines are considered a pest now a days but I like them.  They are lovely to climb in, as easy to climb as a ladder.

No mail for me today, went to the mailbox to pick it up and there was a black snake inside, probably scared the mail lady.

The painting is oil on masonite 8 x 10 inches,

Lil' Feet Program

Thirteen Art Mundo artists volunteered to transform retired St Lucie County Fire District fire boots into works of art, to be placed in Sea Coast banks

to collect money for Lil' Feet, a program run by the St. Lucie County Fire District to raise money to provide shoes for kids starting school.

The boots will be on display at Art Mundo until June 22.

An reception will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. June 13.

The exhibit will be located in Art Mundo's Underground North Wall Gallery at 111 Orange Avenue, in Fort Pierce.
"Lil' Feet" was Founded nearly 18 years ago, the program gives about 1,800 free pairs of shoes to students each year. Donations can be placed in the boots.
I painted one of the boots, mine is in oil.  It was a very nice surface to paint on!  Here are the two sides of my boot.

I think this one is finally finished!

You can scroll down and see where I started this one.  There was more tweaking to do than I thought, managed to spend the whole morning on it.  Darkened her clothing, little more highlights on the jewelry, did some more work on both their eyes, noses, etc.  My husband said to finish it up, you only have five minutes of work on it.

Happy Mothers Day to all the Mothers out there!  :o)

I started this one awhile ago, a lot of times I do an abstract background with left over paints.   Then I let it dry and every now and then take a look at it and see if I am inspired by it.  I was beginning to think I would never see anything in this one and then all of a sudden I did and here is the result.  Its 4 x 6 inches, oil on masonite.

Daily Painting 1402 Coconut Palms Pondside Plein air Alla Prima

I went to Immokolee today for the Art Mundo paintout. Immokolee  is a historic home here in Fort Pierce.  Its a lovely home and yard, a great place to paint.  I had a good time, there is lots of nice things to paint there.
This is a pretty pond they have, its surrounded by giant ferns and these plants with small bright red flowers whose name escapes me.  The butterflies love them and I saw a lot of giant swallowtails and zebra butterflies.
Art Mundo provided nice cold soft drinks and water and the owners of Immokolee gave us some donuts, I couldn't ask for anything more.

The painting is 5 x 7, oil on masonite.

Daily Painting 1401 Double portrait work in progress

I have been working on this for a few days now its a double portrait that the family wanted done, the man has passed away.  The photo I am working from is at the bottom.  The painting is 12 x 16 inches oil on masonite.  I didn't like the composition so I cropped it.  Its still not finished, the lady is just sketched in and I need to do lots of detail work on her.  Her hair is barely started.  Her eyes and mouth are just started. I like how his eyes are coming out, they are looking to the side on the photo and they are looking to the front now.   Not for sale

Daily Painting 1400 Green House on Ave. D. Plein Air Alla Prima

I did this at the Souvenirs of Downtown Fort Pierce paintout so its not available right now.  It was fun to paint, I was sitting across the street with a friend of mine in a yard with no trespassing signs on it.   It looked like it was going to pour down rain too.  So we painted fast, figuring we would either get run off or rained on.  The rain blew over, one drop only landed on me and nobody made us leave.

Its 8 x 10,inches  oil on masonite.

Daily Painting 1398 SOLD Two Salmon Hibiscus miniature oil painting

SOLD  I always liked these, I still have plants from cuttings of the original salmon hibiscus that I grew up with.   I tried twice to get the right colors from my painting onto the computer and had no luck.  Its pretty close, I think they look much prettier in real life, the oranges are softer and lighter in the painting.  The center of the right hibiscus is darker and so are the stamen ends.  I feel very frustrated, LOL!

Its a miniature painting, 4 x 6 inches, oil on masonite.

Daily Painting 1397 Tabebuia Tree at the Backus House

This is unavailable at the moment, its one of the paintings I did at the Backus House Souvenirs of Downtown paintout.  I had a wonderful time, it was wonderful visiting with everyone.  We got treated beautifully, got three meals every day!  The first dinner was just for the artists, that was really nice.  Then there were two nice receptions, during the big one there was a big rain storm so there weren't as many people coming out, mainly artists and their friends and families.

The painting is 8 x 10, oil on masonite.  There is a yellow tabebuia tree next to the Backus house and in the back is the melon colored cottage.

I did six other paintings over the three days,  I was pretty happy with most of them.

Daily Painting 1385 SOLD Big Seascape Painting With Fisherman and Great Blue Heron

SOLD This is what I have been working on lately for days! It was a commissioned painting, 40 x 60 inches, oil on gallery wrapped canvas. The fisherman is 5 inches tall to give an idea of scale. I enjoyed painting it, it was nice to do something so big for a change, nice to get it finished too! Below are the great blue heron and fisherman.

The client saw one of my smaller paintings, Daily Painting # 1367, "A Calming View" and wanted to know if I could make a big one for her with the birds and her husband fishing. So here it is.
