This is at the old Fort Park on Indian River Drive. Beautiful skies, and lots of birds! Saw the ibises, snowy egret, osprey, gulls and little blue heron. That little cut of water is fresh water, flowing into the salt water estuary there. The birds like to come and take baths and drink from it.
The painting is 11 x 14, oil on masonite.

1742 Family Reunion Plein air
I painted this one a few weeks ago out at the Inlet State Park. I was tired and not too happy with the way it looked so I let it sit for awhile.
About a week ago I tweaked it a little and still wasn't happy. Today I picked it up and I think its finally finished! Originally it was very even, palms were very much alike, same colors in them, foreground and background boring. I fixed up the sea grapes under the palms and added the one in the left background. I added the trail and made some of the palms come forward and some go into the back. Some are thinner and some thicker. It made me think of families, how in most families there are differences and similarities in how they look. That is how I came up with the title.

1738 Palm Shadows Plein Air Alla Prima
I did this at the art show at the Inlet State Park yesterday, it was a fun day, perfect weather out.
I got to share a tent so that made it easier with help watching. This was the view past the tent, the path goes down to the beach.
There are a few flecks of grass on the painting, it was pretty breezy out. They will brush off when the painting is dry.

1706 SOLD A Good Wind Sailboat Oil Painting
SOLD I painted this awhile ago, just getting around to posting it now. I took a nice photo of a sailboat out by the jetty, worked from that and my imagination. Mostly painted with the palette knife with a few details added with a tiny brush, the skipper and sea gulls mainly.
The painting is oil on masonite, 12 x 16 inches.

1687 Rising Tide, Old Fort Park, Plein air alla prima
This is down on the river bank by the Old Fort Park. The sea grape is leafing out with its bright leaves, I love how the sun shines through them like stained glass. Very windy and chilly, the painting was started and blew down on my palette right after I started so I had a line of dots on the bottom of the painting, it was fun to work with some un-planned colors. Then on the photo below, I was about half finished and you can see the tide is washing over my easel's feet. I somehow moved fast enough so I didn't get my feet wet. The small dark dot in the water by the sand bank is a bug, I'll remove it when its dry.
I really didn't want to get out of my nice warm nest this morning but I was glad I did, it was beautiful out.
