1781 Tugboat on the Causeway, plein aire

Exciting day painting yesterday, about 200 feet from where we were painting an electric pole started arcing with the super bright light, then it blew up, arced some more and blew up again. Very very loud! The fire truck came and put out the underbrush which had started to burn up.  Its 8 x 10 inches, oil on masonite.

1750 Down by the River Plein air alla Prima

It was really hard prying myself out of bed today, it was cold for here, 50 degrees.  I was glad I went out, its been a beautiful day! This was at the Old Fort Park site here in Fort Pierce, looking down towards the river.  I was in a nice sunny spot and got warmed up fast.

I was close to the road and some of the drivers slowed down to look.  One stopped and yelled out that the painting was beautiful!   The painting was at the stage of palm tree trunks with no leaves so I am not sure what he was seeing.
The painting is 8 x 10 inches, oil on masonite. $200.

The pots in the back have tomatoes, the orange flowers are hibiscus, yellow ones are beach daisies.

Daily Painting 1424 Sabal Palm and Two Live Oaks minature oil painting plein air

I did this from life awhile ago, didn't like it so I got it back out and scraped off the offending parts and re-painted a bit.  There was this building in the background with two windows, it kind of looked like eyes looming out of the painting at you. I like it so much better without the house. Its from the Old Fort Park site.   Its 4 x 6 inches, oil on masonite,

Daily Painting 804 Palms at the Backus Museum

This looks a bit different than my usual style because I took a workshop this weekend that fellow artist George Love put on. She was teaching about glazing and so we just used brushes. We started out with a black and white acrylic painting and then when that dried we added the oil paints in colors. It was super to try a different technique. We were outside so I did the three palms I could see in the park next to the museum.

I had a very busy week, Art Mundo put on all these demos and workshops "Discover the Artist Within" friday and saturday. I took this workshop and one on bookbinding and another on botanical printing. Then I gave an oil painting demo saturday, I'll post that tomorrow. It was a whole lot of fun and I hope we get to do it all again.

Friday evening I went to the Gallery 14 reception in Vero, I have three paintings in their Small is Big showing this month. Thursday was my reception at the Molly House, that was lovely and I sold a couple of paintings.

Its 8 x 10 acrylic and oil,
