1788 In Full Bloom Mixed Media oil and water color painting

First painting after my cataract surgery, I was having fun with colors! I tried a new to me technique. I took a piece of watercolor paper, coated it with clear acrylic. This was to protect the paper from the oil paints. Then painted an under painting with watercolors. Then went over that with oils. It was about 5 sessions with letting it dry in between times and tweaks. Its a fun technique, something a little different.  Its loosely based on a photo I took while I was at a Heathcote Botanical Gardens plant sale.

Its 9 x 11 inches, watercolor and oil on watercolor paper.

1663 SOLD Monarch Butterfly on the Amaranth

SOLD !  I have been painting this for a few days now.  I grew some milkweed and then watched this one grow from egg into caterpillar and finally into butterfly.  The cocoon was on a branch that got broken so I brought the branch into the house and when the butterfly came out I put it on the globe amaranth flowers.

The painting is 8 x 10 inches, oil on masonite.  $250.

I have also entered this years Inktober for the first time.  Here is the first one, its my dog Scouty.
They have prompts and the first prompt is "Fast."  I used a Sharpie pen. #inktober #inktober2016
