Come join me at the Backus Museum!

I will be at the Backus Museum at the opening tomorrow night and I will also be painting there on Saturday morning 11 to 2.

Free admission and open to the public on Friday and Saturday.

I know some of the other artists, you will see lots of great works of art!

The museum is at 500 North Indian River Drive, Fort Pierce, Florida.

Daily Painting 1347 Perfect Morning in the Savannas Plein Air Alla Prima

It was really nice today, perfect temperature and I got to paddle around in the kayak too. The clouds changed a lot while I was there, this is about how it was when I arrived at 9 am and when I left around noon it was clouded over. The painting is 12 x 16, oil on masonite.

Beautiful day out, started out cloudy but by the time I got to the park it cleared up nice. The painting is pretty big for a plein air, 12 x 16. I painted it at the Savannas Recreational area off Midway road.

Daily Painting 1329 North Fork View St. Lucie River Plein Air

I went here and painted today, perfect day out. My husband said there were some alligators near the fishermen and so I went to see, there is a photo of one below. Came back and found since I wasn't sitting on my chair and weighing it down the wind caught the umbrella. I was very lucky, as you can see, the umbrella just missed the painting. Daily Painting 1322 SOLD Strong Winds

SOLD This was almost a plein air painting, its been stormy lately, 25-40 mph winds and tons of rain. I thought I would see what I could do in between rain showers so I went out and started and then it started pouring. I came back inside and looked out the window and worked on the painting that way. About half way through the painting the wind totally stopped, a nice rainbow came out and my light changed again. I didn't try to catch that and stuck with the way the painting started. Its 16 x 12 inches, oil on masonite, $500.

Daily Painting 1318 Glowing Sunset

Its oil on masonite, 5 x 7 inches. This was another one of my paintings where I started the background and let it dry and then worked on top. The different texture on the palm fronds is from a color shaper tool, its a lot of fun to use.

Its 5 x 7 inches, oil on masonite. This was a fun one for me, I had started it awhile ago by putting the cloud glow in, I didn't want to throw away that nice bright color, it was some left over paint. Plus I like to have a start on a panel, it helps me think up something to paint.

Its 8 x 10, oil on plywood. I had this underway for awhile, I had it all finished except for the bird's beaks which were not showing up well. I had to let it dry and then paint over them. Of course then I tweaked here and there a bit more, I feel happy with it now.

Daily Painting 1308 South Beach Sea Grapes

Daily Painting 1306 Twilight Forest gumbo limbos

I had no idea what to paint so I thinned my paints way down and made the background, letting the oil paints flow like water colors. I looked at the result and I could see the trees so I removed some paint and added more and started having fun.

I think they look a lot like gumbo limbo or tourist trees. This wasn't planned it just happened that way. Do you know why the gumbo limbo is also called the tourist tree?

Daily Painting 1302 Stormy Weather

Its 5 x 7 inches, oil on plywood. Its been windy off and on all day today, we got the very edge of hurricane Irene, just enough to get our yard messy with palm fronds. We went to the beach and watched the kite boarders and big waves, it was a lot of fun.
