I had a great time painting today at the old Fort Park with the Plein Air Painters of the Treasure Coast. I had a nice turnout and the weather was perfect. This old oak is on the river side of the road, I took some liberties with it, there is a total jungle to the right of the tree in real life.
The painting is 8 x 10 inches, oil on masonite.
Florida Plein Air oil paintings, stormy landscapes, hurricanes, travel.

The "Treasure Coast" sounds so adventurous with whispers of sunken ships and pirate treasure. That gnarled oak is beautiful and a treasure in itself.
Thanks Sherry, we do have an interesting history here. The oak is on the site of a fort that Benjamin Pierce ran, that is how the town of Fort Pierce got its name. There is an indian mound on the site too.
