Lori, I love your monoprints! Can you tell me something about the process? Is there a way to do them simply, at home?
Jamie
Thanks Jamie! They are easy to do at home. Especially one color ones. I use thinned oil or acrylic, about like pancake syrup thickness. Spread on a piece of glass or plexiglass with a brayer so you have a thin layer of paint. Remove paint you don't want with a color shaper, q-tips, cardboard, etc. I have been using a color shaper. Lay a piece of paper carefully on top. Rub with your fist holding the paper down with the other hand. Peel the paper off partly to check the print. Sometimes you can get another print out of the paint or ink that is left. Let it dry and paint or use colored pencils or leave as is. Its much harder to write about than to do one! I do a whole bunch and one or two come out, but you can use the bad ones for backgrounds too.
Another way is to just paint with a brush on the glass, I told you the removal type first. I like oil better because it dries slower, acrylic can dry before you are finished so you have to work very fast.
Have fun!
Lori, thanks so much! This sounds like too much fun to be legal. I can't wait to play with some here at home.
Cool! I can't wait to see what you come up with. Its so much easier than painting a whole painting when there is all the holiday turmoil going on.
I LOVE this, Lori! How come I never saw it? It's so neat!
Helen
Thanks Helen! I don't know why you didn't see it, its been right here! hehehe! Lori
