Daily Painting 1446 SOLD Water Lily Extravaganza

SOLD This painting is from the pond in the middle of White City park off Midway road.  It was a  plein air I did a number of years ago, there were a few things I didn't care for so I changed things around a bit. The painting is 11 x 14, oil on masonite.

Does anyone know what kind of palms those are?  They grow like I have them, all from a center root clump, with orange flowers.

Daily Painting 1443 Life in the Savannas Miniature oil painting

I mainly used my painting knife on this one, it has lots of nice textures.

I just was asked the difference between a palette knife and a painting knife.  The palette knife has a wider and longer blade, its used to clean off a palette and to mix paint.  A painting knife can be lots of different shapes, its used to paint with.  You can paint with a palette knife and clean with a painting knife though.
People ask me fairly often if I used my palette to paint with.  No.  That would be hard.  I guess you could use it as sort of  a shovel to paint a very large painting.  I would never tell somebody they can't paint a certain way.

The painting is 4 x 6 inches, oil on masonite.

Daily Painting 1442 Shady Harbor

This painting sort of painted itself, I started out painting something else and then I saw the trees in the background coming out and I liked how they were looking.  It was reminding me of the St. Lucie river, my dad and I used to go boating there a lot when I was growing up.  We had a 14 foot long Lone Star aluminum boat that looked a lot like the boat in the painting.

We would set in at White City park and explore the river, looking for alligators and turtles.  There were some sandy spots we could put in and then explore on foot, it was a lot of fun.

The painting is 5 x 7 inches,  oil on masonite.

Daily Painting 1440 Beach Dreams Indian River Oil Painting

This is the view down on the river bank, the flowers are from the mother of thousands plants.  There are sea grapes behind them.    I enjoyed painting this, it was one of those paintings that gave me no troubles, just sort of fell together.

I have had a number of people asking me lately if I do commissions, I am happy to, its nice sometimes for me to have the decision of what to paint taken away from me.

Also in the fall, when the weather is cooler,  I will be looking for some new places to paint in the Fort Pierce area, I need some new inspirations.  Either for just myself or for my painting group; The Plein Air Painters of the Treasure Coast.  If you have a pretty yard, I would love to paint there!  To purchase just press the little Paypal button below.

The painting is 12 x 16 inches, oil on masonite.

Daily Painting 1438 Paradise of Birds

The painting is 12 x 16 inches, oil on masonite.  I used mainly a brush but there is some palette knife work, its not as textured as most of my paintings.  I have four days of work in it, I kept seeing things I wanted to change.  I am finally happy with it.
Our bird of paradise flowers in our yard are blooming right now so we picked some and brought them into the house and I worked from them. Its been a great year for my plants, I have had more blooms on them than ever, lots of rain this year made them happy.

Daily Painting 1434 SOLD Whispers over the Back Fence

SOLD Its 8 x 10 inches oil on archival mat board.  My mind is totally shot.  I cannot think up a name, asked my husband if he had an idea.  No.  His mind is not working either.   I suggested "A Fine Kettle of Fish"  He did not like that,
 "No kettle!"  he says.
"Well no" I say, "I just feel like I am in a fine kettle of fish at the moment."  They do look to cute to eat and are very small.

My next thought is "A Finny Adventure"

Anybody out there want to give it a try?

My painting has a name!  Its "Whispers over the Back Fence"

Daily Painting 1432 Ripe for the Picking! Florida Orange tree oil painting

I had this photo I took of an orange tree, it was pretty uninspiring, the printer is running out of ink for one thing so I made the photo black and white.  I was looking through a magazine, saw someone's painting of some arum lilies, I loved the colors in their painting!

So I tried matching up their colors to my painting and this was the result.  I had fun, hadn't done that before.  The painting is 8 x 10 inches, oil on masonite,

I had fun with this one, its a fantasy painting, painted out of my head.  I think the Australian pines are considered a pest now a days but I like them.  They are lovely to climb in, as easy to climb as a ladder.

No mail for me today, went to the mailbox to pick it up and there was a black snake inside, probably scared the mail lady.

Lil' Feet Program

Thirteen Art Mundo artists volunteered to transform retired St Lucie County Fire District fire boots into works of art, to be placed in Sea Coast banks

to collect money for Lil' Feet, a program run by the St. Lucie County Fire District to raise money to provide shoes for kids starting school.

The boots will be on display at Art Mundo until June 22.

An reception will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. June 13.

The exhibit will be located in Art Mundo's Underground North Wall Gallery at 111 Orange Avenue, in Fort Pierce.
"Lil' Feet" was Founded nearly 18 years ago, the program gives about 1,800 free pairs of shoes to students each year. Donations can be placed in the boots.
I painted one of the boots, mine is in oil.  It was a very nice surface to paint on!  Here are the two sides of my boot.
