SOLD I did this back in November, never posted it for some reason. This is the Dutchman's Pipe vine at Heathcote Botanical Gardens here in Fort Pierce. The vine has heart shaped leaves and very strange flowers. Black swallowtail butterflies lay their eggs on the vines and their caterpillars eat the leaves. This path goes to the children's garden, you can see a young banana plant in the back.
The painting is 5 x 7 inches, oil on masonite,
Florida Plein Air oil paintings, stormy landscapes, hurricanes, travel.

1654 A Little Windy Painting, Plein Air Alla Prima Coconut Palm by the Ocean
I did this back in April, just now got around to posting it. We were at the Jetty park by the inlet to the ocean in Ft. Pierce. It was a lovely breezy day, just looking at the painting again makes me remember sitting there painting this. I am ready to go to the beach again!
Its done with my palette knife so it has lots of nice textures.

1652 Red Fig Ficus Plein Air Alla Prima
Very windy day today, I had to hang on to my hat and sometimes the easel. Those are whitecaps in the inlet, it was that color, a beautiful teal blue. This is out at the causeway park, I was going to do one of the historic buildings there but the water was so pretty I wanted to paint there. I have been doing some paintings at home and left my favorite knife there. So I had to use a big one I had along, it has a 3 inch long blade with a rounded tip. It worked well for making the big leaves of tree.
The tree is some kind of ficus, has pretty bright red figs. I tried one one time and it wasn't sweet.
Its 8 x 10 inches, oil on masonite $300.
