Daily Painting 758 Golden Fringe Hibiscus ACEO miniature
This is a memory painting, we used to have a big round bush of these in our front yard when I was growing up. Something happened to it, either it froze or my father went pruning crazy. He was of the opinion that if you trim a bush to the ground, it will come back up full and bushy. Well, it will take this treatment sometimes and sometimes not and eventually it will croak.
Someday I want to get another one like it.
Its ACEO size, on a vintage playing card. 2.50 x 3.50 inches. I am not going to put a price on it, make me an offer you can email me here: lori.mcnamara@gmail.com
Whoever gives me the best offer I will send a paypal bill to and the painting is yours.

Daily Painting 754 SOLD Pickerel Weed in the Savannas
SOLD Its plein air, alla prima. It was a very cloudy day with a few showers, I got out there, found a nice spot and sat down to paint and it started to rain. So I got up and went under a pavillion. It stopped raining again and I did this one. It was nice out even with the rain, pretty and silvery. Not too hot or cold. I painted it at the Savanna's Preserve State Park off of Walton Road. Its oil, 5 x 7

Daily Painting 744 Hibiscus Work in Progress
I got these new painting knives for an early Christmas present so I started playing with them right off. They are weird shapes two are like rakes and the third has wavy edges. So I decided to use some black paint because I have lots of it, I rarely use black in my paintings.
When I am trying new things I just try out different strokes on a panel and then scrape them off and keep re-using my paint and cleaning off the panel. I was thinking the knife shapes would make nice leaf veins and edges which it looks like they will do and then I thought I would try some flower shapes too.
My experiment was looking like a painting and so I kept what I was doing and added white to it. I am not sure if I want to add color to the painting or not, I like it as it is, except I want to add the pollen to the stamen ends and do a little more picking here and there. Not for sale at this time, its 8 x 10 oil.

My One Woman Show
Here is what I have been doing lately instead of painting! I had just under 60 paintings, above is a collage of a lot of them and my self portrait. Below is me dressed up, I crocheted the purse its out of fun fur yarn. Next two are me when we set up the show yesterday.
The show was put on by Mainstreet Fort Pierce, Inc. http://mainstreetfortpierce.org/
They put on a lovely reception for me, nice music and lots of super food. We had a pretty good turn out, I am guessing 60 people came. I have sold a couple of paintings there so far and maybe a third. It runs till Saturday. Its in the old Beanie Backus home. Beanie was a Florida artist who did beautiful landscapes, I had a few lessons from him.

This painting is part of a memorial exhibition for Barbara Haukenberry. She was very encouraging to numerous artists at The Daily Painters Gallery. She purchased many paintings from us including some of mine. She has passed away now after a hard fight with disease and age. She loved paintings of flowers and birds.
These are lobster claw heliconias, a relative to bird of paradise flowers. Its plein air, I did it from life at Heathcote Botanical Gardens here in Fort Pierce. It was beautiful out there. Its 8 x 10, oil, all painting knife.
