1514 Lazy Day on the Indian River

I did this one awhile back, put it aside because I wanted to add the birds. The plants to the left of the coconut palm are a succulent with red flowers. They spread from many tiny plant-lets on each leaf so some people call them Mother of Thousands. I have several different varieties in my yard, they tend to take over. I don't mind I like them.

The painting is 8 x 10 inches, oil on masonite.

1508 No Pie for the Writer's Group Undersea Oil Painting of Fish

This is one of those paintings where I start with a background and then find what I want to paint in it. Its fun, I saw the one fish and then more and more started showing up. I painted the green fish first and the brown fish hanging onto the coral was the last one to show up to the party.

The painting is 10 x 7.75 inches on archival mat-board.

1507 Banyon Bay

Its been awhile since I posted, I am going to try to catch up now. It has been very hot and muggy and rainy, I have been staying in the air conditioning a lot. I tried taking some photos at different times and my camera instantly gets steamed up. Today it was bright enough so I could take a photo inside.

1506 View from Under the Bridge

I did this one quite awhile ago, its 11 x 14, oil on masonite. It was a plein air, and I pretty much painted what I saw. The water was brown and there weren't very many plants around. It was just the buildings mostly. So I tweaked it a lot. I like it much better now.

1502 Back Country Barn

This is 5 x 7 inches, oil on masonite. I painted a painting of this barn awhile ago, it was larger. I liked how the barn looked and wanted to do it again. There is lots of texture in this, its mostly with the painting knife, very little brush work.

1501 Bend in the St. Lucie River

This is from the North Fork of the St. Lucie River. There is usually a gator under those trees to the right. Most people can't see them, they look like an old log or tire. I'll let the viewer decide if I put one in or not. Lots of nice texture in this painting. The painting is 8 x 10 oil on masonite.

I did this by the Indian River. The odd man out is the Washingtonian palm, the others are sabal or cabbage palms. The painting is 12 x 16 inches, oil on masonite. $500.

1497 The Pink House on 2nd Street

I haven't been posting lately, I haven't been feeling too great, the arthritis-lupus combo flared up and did a number on my energy and mood. I am feeling a bit better, going to try and get back in gear.

This was done back in April on the 20th. And the 26th of April too. If you closely at the bottom picture, you can see the water all over it, it got rained on. So I wasn't quite finished.
You can click on the photos to see them better. The top one is the finished one, I tweaked it a bit.

Its pretty much still a plein air but can't call it alla prima any more.
