This one is from last week mostly, brought it back to the park today. I tweaked a couple of things. There are some photos below from today, you can see how many lilies there are, this is the time of year to see them! These were taken around 8:30 this morning. I would like to paint them some time.
The egret in the painting was there in that spot last week, he posed very nicely. This week there were some white ibis there.
Painting is oil on masonite, 8 x 10 inches.
Florida Plein Air oil paintings, stormy landscapes, hurricanes, travel.

1518 SOLD Pink Blossoms
SOLD This is a fantasy painting, I was just playing. There is this tree at Heathcote botanical gardens that sort of looks like this, has small pink flowers and gnarly looking trunk and branches. It was loosely based on that tree. Its 8 x 10 inches, oil on masonite. This painting is sold but if you would like a similar one I would be happy to paint one for you.

1517 Early Morning Water Lilies Plein Air Alla Prima
I started up the Plein Air Painters of the Treasure Coast for the season today, at White City Park. It was beautiful out, these pink lilies were all over in the center pond. Saw some ibis and egrets. I had a lot of fun painting with Jani-Lori and Marcie Brennan.
The painting is 10 by 8 inches, oil on masonite.

1516 Misty Morning Flamboyant Royal Poinciana
I painted this one awhile ago without the bird. I do that often, birds are easier to paint on a dry painting. I am relaxed because I know if I mess up the bird it is only the bird and not the background that has to be fixed. So when I paint them on a dry panel, they usually go on fine the first time.
The trouble comes in when I have these paintings that are sitting around waiting for their birds to fly in and they don't get posted on my blog.
Its 10 x 8 inches, oil on masonite.

1515 Wind Rising over the Indian River
I did this as a demo for the St. Lucie County Art Association. They were a real nice group and I had a good time. They didn't ask any questions that were too hard to answer. Well, I am not sure what year I started using a painting knife.
The painting is 12 x 16 inches, oil on masonite.
