We had a big thunderstorm all evening and my dog Whisker has decided he will be scared of thunder now. He turned into a lap dog and plopped all 75 pounds of himself on my lap. Drolling and shaking. I put up with it because he is usually an independent cuss so it was nice to have some cuddling for a change.

Daily Painting 634 Fishing in the Savannas Miniature Oil Painting

Its 5 x 7, oil. I included some details, you can click on them and see them way bigger than real life. The figure is a hair shorter than 3/8ths of an inch, I am guessing, I don't want to get a ruler too close to the wet paint. I thought I was going to cut loose and splash around and here is what happened, I had a lot of fun with it.

Daily Painting 628 SOLD Commissioned Dog Painting

SOLD I have a feeling its going to be too red, the person who commissioned it said my photo was. (Darn) I like it this color! It looks like I will have some more tweaking to do. 5 x 7, oil. Not for sale here.

Note, the dog owner (not the person who made the commission) liked the painting and I didn't have to tweak it. :oD

Daily Painting 627 Work in Progress Commissioned Dog Painting

One of my relatives commissioned me to do this painting of her friend's dog Harley. He has passed on and the photo below is the only image the owner had of him. If you look closely you can see its in bad shape. I messed around with it in Photoshop and got the second photo, she wanted a more close-up of the dog and I straightened it out, removed scratches and other problems. The last picture is my drawing to paint on. I decided to remove the flower pot and probably the railing too. The painting will be 5 x 7 inches and not for sale here.

Daily Painting 623 Work in Progress Royal Poinciana Flowers

This was started the other day. Its starting to take shape a bit now, this is going to take awhile! I am still keeping things soft, I want the flowers to pop out and the background to stay in the back where it belongs. I am enjoying this, its totally different from the way I usually work. Its oil, 8 x 10. Not for sale at this time.

Daily Painting 621 Work in Progress Royal Poinciana Flowers

I thought I would be able to get this farther along today but I got busy with out of town company. Its 8 x 10 oil. The top picture is the photo I am working from, the next is my drawing. The last is the first layer of paint, when you look closely at the poinciana flowers they have a lighter edge to each petal, thats why I am using yellow like that. It will mostly be covered up and hopefully glow through the next layer of paint. The board is tinted pink. Not for sale at this time.

Daily Painting 620 Sandy Trail out West of Fort Pierce

I tweaked yesterday's painting a bit more. What a difference taking a picture in day light makes! Also I included a photo of our family of armadillos that I found in the back yard. I hope I can get a better picture some time. They wouldn't hold still and kept getting behind bushes and branches. They are about half the size of adults and were very cute. The painting is oil, 8 x 10,

Daily Painting 616 SOLD Pot of Flowers at Heathcote Botanical Gardens Miniature Plein Air Alla Prima

SOLD I painted this at Heathcote Botanical Gardens. Its plein air, alla prima, miniature, all painting knife. 4 x 6 inches. Below is a detail so you can see all the texture. If you click on the pictures you will see them much bigger than life.

Daily Painting 612 Palm Meeting at Round Island Beach Plein Air Alla Prima

This was one of those fun ones, everything flows, it almost paints itself. I was at Round Island Park. I turned my back on the ocean and saw this group of palms, they all looked like they were leaning together in deep conversation. Most times I have seen trees bending away from each other to get the best light.

Its oil, 5 x 7, all painting knife, lots of nice chunky texture. Click on it to see it better.
