Daily Painting 485 Flowers in a Pot Rock City Gardens Plein Air Alla Prima
I painted this at Rock City Gardens in Sebastian. There were a whole lot of flowers in this pot, geraniums, petunias, plumbago, the little pink flowers and the dark blue ones I don't know the names of. It was one of those fun ones to paint. Click the picture to see all the textures. Its 6 x 8, oil,

Daily Painting 484 Calamondin Orange Tree at Heathcote Botanical Gardens Plein Air
This is a cool tree at Heathcote, it has tiny, tart little oranges smaller than golf balls. There were more oranges on the ground than on the tree, I thought they looked interesting and I had to try to paint them. Below is my photo, Allie the head gardener took my picture. It started out pretty chilly, I have lots of layers of clothes. She let me have some of their pretty oxalis, thats whats in the cup. The painting is 8 x 10 and not available right now.

Daily Painting 478 Out at the Ranch Work in Progress
Its not finished yet, I still have some to go on it. There is a detail below and you can click the pictures to see the paintings larger. I am going to add some leaves to the oak maybe, I am debating about it, I like it without too. The palm tree on the far right needs some more fronds and there is general tweaking to be done here and there. Its another big painting, 28 x 22 inches, not for sale at this time.

Daily Painting 467 Indian River Work in Progress
This is a big painting 21.50 x 31.50 I started November 26, 2007, the top picture is as it was then and the bottom is what I did today. Christmas and the Backus art show happened, I was way busy! I have blocked in the palm tree positions and the ground. I think I will make the rock piles smaller and the "stripes" of grass less even. Not for sale at this time.

Daily Painting 463 SOLD The North Pond at McKee's Botanical Gardens Plein Air Alla Prima
SOLD I have always painted the south pond at McKee's so I thought I would face the other way today which was into the sun. The sun was shining through the palm fronds and making them glow, it was a beautiful day. I had lots of company, we had a great turnout with my painting group, the Plein Air Painters of the Treasure Coast. There is a photo below of some of us. I am standing on the bridge taking the picture of the south pond.
The painting is 8 x 10, oil, mostly painting knife. Painted from life or en plein air and all in one go with no picking afterward or alla prima. Very thick, juicy paint.
