I was here tonight, they had the big reception party. Huge crowd of people, lots of great food. I think all of us sold some. I had 56 paintings, this is just some of them. I sold 16 so far and the show runs till January 5. It was a great evening.

Daily Painting 420 D. J. Wilcox Natural Area Oak Tree
D. J. Wilcox is a natural area they just opened up to the public here in Fort Pierce. My son and husband and I hiked all over it yesterday and we had a great time. There are several different ecosystems so its real interesting. We started off by the canoe launch and walked along the river, lots of nice mangroves, I'll be painting them soon. Then we went into some real jungle, oak and bay hammock and then into pine flatwoods. This oak was growing over the trail, I liked how it looked.

Daily Painting 406 SOLD Under the Old Hickory Tree Plein Air Alla Prima
SOLD The leaves do turn color in Florida! It helps when they are back-lit by the late afternoon sun too. This is in my back yard again, under the painting is a photo of the area, a bit to the left with my dog Whisker. He was great company, barking at the neighbor's grandchildren and when he got bored with that he yapped at the squirrels in the tree I was under.
Its 4 x 6, oil, all palette knife, no brush.

Daily Painting 405 Pink Grass
This is from in our back yard, there is a nice patch of this pink blooming feathery grass. I mowed the lawn the last time out back so I went carefully around it so I could enjoy the flowers longer. Its very cool, red when it starts blooming, fading to pink, then white. It feels like silk when you run it through your fingers. The sun shines through it and it glows nice.
That's a bay tree on the right, kind of turned into a big bush after the twin hurricanes a few years ago. Its 4 x 6, oil,

DAILY PAINTING 400!!! Along Indian River Drive
This is my 400th daily painting today so of course I wanted it nice. This painting was trouble from the get go. At one point it had a huge happy face in the bushes. Most artists know all about these gremlins, a person is happily painting along, putting darks and lights in their trees and bushes; they step back to check their work and there will be a critter or face peering out at them. Often they don't show up till you get the painting photographed and there it is looking out at you on the computer screen. And once you see it, your eyes keep going back there.
So I finally get it going all right, got rid of the smilie face and then I am taking it to the car and it falls over jelly side down of course. I got it home and fixed it up, not what I really had in mind for the afternoon.
Its 11 x 14, oil.

Daily Painting 396 Windy Day at the Inlet Demo for the Vero Beach Art Club
The painting is 12 x 16, oil, painting knife and color shaper. I had a good time. Everyone seemed to like it, it was hard though, the lights glared on my wet paint so I had trouble seeing the colors and shades good. My husband counted over 100 people. Lots of audience participation, questions and comments. That part was fun. If you look at the pictures there is a mirror over me so they could kind of see what I was doing. Next one I do I think I will pre-mix the paint so I can judge colors and values better.
