SOLD daily painting 245 The Old Stone Bridge at Mckee BotAanical Gardens in Vero Beach, Florida Plein Air

SOLD It 11 x 14, oil, all knife. Did this painting ever have troubles! I put it into the car on this blanket as I don't have a carrier for this size. A corner smeared part of the painting. I fixed it when I got home. Then the dog knocked the easel and got another mark on it. Also got some paint on the couch. I fixed those too.

daily painting 239 Something a bit different at Heathcote Botanical Gardens

I had fun at Heathcote today with Allie Comer. She invited me over to paint the door by the herb garden with her. The top photo is a detail of the door. I don't think its for sale, you have to take that up with the nice people at Heathcote. She did a lot of the painting too it was a team effort.

daily painting 237 Water Lilies at White City Park Alla Prima Plein Air

Its oil, 11 x 14. It was a beautiful day at the park, these lilies close at noon. I had fun, I used totally different colors than I usually do. The leaves were very interesting, not much green on them and the older ones had a lot of orange on them.

daily painting 235 Singing Tower of Lake Wales, Florida Work In Progress part two

The top half of the painting is close to finished. I will probably tweak a little bit here and there, the middle band near the top got a little off. There are the reflections and bushes to be finished and some water lilies added.

daily painting 234 Singing Tower of Lake Wales, Florida Work In Progress

This is a commissioned painting, its Bok tower or Singing tower in Lake Wales. My client sent me a cool vintage post card with the tower on it. She wants a 5 x 7 painting made. Here is my start, I have used thin, dark colors over my drawing. When it is dry I will paint the sky and lay lighter colors over the dark ones. The postcard has different proportions than the 5 x 7 panel so I took the liberty of painting the entire palm to the left. It was cut in half vertically on the postcard.

daily painting 223 SOLD Smoke Haze over the Indian River at Old Fort Park, Fort Pierce Plein Air Alla Prima

SOLD Today the weather was very odd, I think I caught the colors dead on in this painting. The sun stayed red and then orange for hours this morning. There were huge fires in central Florida and the smoke must be covering the whole state. The air was nice though, not too hot.

Lots and lots of love bugs, I have developed a method of getting them off my paintings with no damage. I flick them off with the tip of my palette knife. Sometimes the bugs themselves are unharmed and are able to continue on their way. A love bug is about twice the size of a mosquito, they are always in pairs, stuck together by their behinds. During this time of the year they fly about in thousands and expire upon automobile windshields and grills. Cars can get so covered they can overheat and expire as well. You have to scrub and scrub to get them off, a terrible end to the romance.

The painting is $100, its 5 x 7, oil, knife and brush.

Daily Painting 220 Gone Fishing And Art Show

Next Saturday there will be an art show (May 12) at Edenlawn Plantation, 13377 Indian River Dr. Jensen Beach, Florida. For all artists interested in setting up, we will be arriving at 8:30am and the show will run from 10-4.

The plein-aire painters of Eden worked there for a month and this Saturday's event will be a show and sale of that effort. However, we are opening it up to all interested artists. The owner, will also be selling plants and books. There will be tours of the plantation during the show at 11, 1 and 3 o'clock.

The painting is digital, I went hiking, fishing and swimming today, smoked the fish and I was too pooped to paint!
