1524 Wind in the Oaks Plein Air Alla Prima

The wind was getting strong when I did this one, that is Spanish moss growing from the oak branches.  The Florida holly has its berries now and is very pretty.

The painting is oil on masonite, 5 x 7 inches.

So rich in greens! I love green; my favorite color. I always thought the Spanish moss was beautiful. I remember being taught in grade school that it takes nutrients away from the trees, but I don't know that the trees suffer any from it. It is like they are dressed in an ethereal gown!

Spanish moss is in the bromeliad family. It gets moisture and nutrients from the air and rain not from the trees it grows on.
