Its oil on masonite, 8 x 10 inches.
My Plein Air and other paintings, Florida Art, travel, oils, stormy landscapes, hurricanes.
SOLD Its 5 x 7 inches, oil on archival mat board. This is one of those paintings where you see the fish and they just need some bringing out. These fish are totally made up, not sure if there are any just like this in the real world or not.
I had a time with this one, I started it at the art bank. (they have an open studio on Wednesday nights) I had the background in and my studio partner said she saw a fish in it. I took a look and sure enough, I saw him too. So I started painting him in today, after turning the painting upside down so the sea fan would be growing in the right direction. (click the painting, you can see the texture of the fan better then.)
I have always liked spoonbills and I felt like painting them. These are on the North Fork of the Saint Lucie river, I haven't seen them very often there so I was thrilled to get to see them this time. This is a memory painting of a scene I remember from my childhood. I spent many happy hours boating with my dad on the North Fork. Its changed so much since then. The painting is a miniature, 4 x 6 inches, oil on masonite,
SOLD I did this during the Souvenirs of Downtown paintout, I hadn't gotten around to posting it, I did tweak it a bit. In real life the trunk of the tree was behind a wall, I didn't think it looked too good that way in the painting so I changed it. I found out if I would moved over a bit, the wall wouldn't be in the way anyhow! Its 12 x 16, oil on masonite.
This was painted from a photo I took at Spoonbill Marsh. Its North of Vero, you need permission to go there. I am planning some paintouts there, and got to go on a tour of it. Its got a big long boardwalk. Vero's drinking water wells have some salt in them.
If you have been to Heathcote Botanical gardens I think you will recognize this spot. I always thought the seagrape trees were so cool there, some of the largest I have seen. The painting was fun to do and took me a few days, there is lots of texture and thick paint. It is 8 x 10 inches, oil on masonite
