Daily Painting 988 Florida Gallinules Plein Air Alla Prima

In the Savannas Recreational Area again. Beautiful weather and these cool little birds. They were swimming in front of us and would go into the darker green grass and disappear. After awhile they would show up again.

We were having a big discussion what the little birds were, they have bright red beaks. We thought they might be coots or grebes and the first thing I did when I got home was look them up. They are related to coots.

The painting is 5 x 7, oil on masonite. Painted in the open air on location.
