Daily Painting 108-5 Sisters Work in Progress

I was stewing a lot about the younger sister's shirt, what color to make it? I finally decided on a rose color. I started her hands and picked around a bit here and there correcting things.

Daily Painting 108-3 Sisters Work in Progress

I worked on her some more tonight, mainly smoothing the paint, still with the painting knife. I'll probably adjust the values in the daytime.

The older girl is close to complete. I will probably smooth her skin a little and put some highlights back in. All knife so far, no brush. 12 x 16, oil.

Daily Painting 108 Sisters Work in Progress

I will have to take some time on this one. I took the first photo Christmas Eve, I mostly liked how it looked but thought it was too busy. I played in photoshop and came up with the middle photo. I removed the boyfriend's legs and gave the older sister her's. Then I made my drawing, giving the younger sister a mirror instead of her cell phone. I think I will remove the fake palms totally and have a plainer background. I am planning on removing the skull pattern on the shirt too. Also the black fingernail polish.

Daily Painting 103 Oak and palms

This is from a photo of an old oak in our back yard. Its watercolor on some weird paper I am not too pleased with. It does look less stripey in real life. I played around with it and got the darker version in photoshop. They are both 5 x 7.

Daily Painting 97 Christmas card block print

Daily Painting 96 Experimenting

Watercolor and photoshop. I got myself a bunch of new toys for Christmas, some watercolor pencils and watercolor pastels on ebay. So I tried some out, the result is the bottom painting. Not that thrilling to me, so I put it into photoshop, cropped it and came out with the top painting that I liked a lot better. Original is about 5 x 8 on watercolor paper.

Daily Painting 88 Monoprint and Christmas Art Show

I have exciting news, I was juried into our local botanical garden's Christmas Art Show. All ten of the paintings I entered were accepted into the show and one sold before the show opened! It will open tomorrow, December 8,9, 15, and 16 from 6pm to 9pm. Admission to the gardens is $6. If you are in or near Fort Pierce, Florida on those days its well worth the trip to see the Heathcote Botanical Gardens Christmas in the Gardens. They have thousands of lights strung all over and it is a wonderful spectacle.

All the paintings below are mine with the exception of the small painting on a wooden board. All the paintings are alla prima plein airs with the exception of the shed which is studio painted. There I am too.

Today's painting was experimenting some more with monoprints, its shady bamboo.

Daily Painting 77 SOLD Phragmites at Indrio Savannas

SOLDWe went all around the little lake here today, a bit of a mistake, there is a very jungley part on the opposite side of from the painting. We figured it would be shorter to slog through instead of going back around. About a half mile of very thick brush to go through. We were almost through and I disturbed some yellow jacket wasps, OUCH! Three of them got me and the bites still hurt. Better than it was at first, and while I was painting I didn't even think about them.

The painting is 5 x 7, oil, all knife, studio from one of my photos today. Remembering Mike Pacitti.

The photo is me and my dog Whisker, he is smelling something of great interest.
